Injured Hawk Rescued by Sheriff’s Deputies in North Idaho

WALLACE, ID A routine walk turned into a wildlife rescue for members of the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday along the West Fork of Pine Creek.

According to a social media post by Undersheriff Lance Stutzke, Captain Green encountered a bird that would not fly away and remained in the officers’ path, appearing to be injured. In an effort to help, Captain Green used Stutzke’s jacket to wrap the bird, sustaining a talon injury to his finger in the process.

The bird, now nicknamed “Tony Hawk,” was brought back to the sheriff’s office, where it was awaiting transfer to a bird rescue organization.

“You just never know what you’ll see up Pine Creek,” Stutzke wrote.
