SPOKANE VALLEY, WA – A 15-year-old girl was arrested on multiple charges Tuesday evening after allegedly threatening a man with a knife, assaulting him, and later damaging a wall at the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center.
Spokane Valley Deputies responded around 7:10 p.m. on July 23 to a reported assault involving a weapon near the 2400 block of N. Discovery Place. Callers described a fight involving several intoxicated teenagers along the Spokane River.
Upon arrival, deputies found an adult male with visible injuries and the 15-year-old suspect, both showing signs of alcohol intoxication. The victim reported that after a verbal dispute involving a personal item—a tumbler given to him by a deceased family member—the suspect allegedly brandished a 12-inch knife and threatened to stab him. Although others separated the two initially, the suspect later grabbed the man by the hair, slammed his head onto a rock, and reportedly punched him approximately 25 times. He sustained bleeding from the mouth, cuts, and bruises.
Deputies recovered a knife matching the description and took the suspect into custody. A witness confirmed the victim’s account of the incident.
Due to her erratic and uncooperative behavior, deputies requested additional assistance at juvenile detention. While at the facility, the suspect kicked a hole approximately 2 feet by 2 feet in a wall, causing an estimated $500 in damage. A breath test indicated high levels of intoxication, with blood alcohol content readings of .184 and .224. She was taken to a hospital for medical clearance before being booked into juvenile detention.
The teen is facing charges of felony harassment involving a weapon, fourth-degree assault, and third-degree malicious mischief.
An unrelated adult male who was present at the scene but not involved in the fight was also arrested on a separate misdemeanor warrant for fourth-degree assault. He was booked into the Spokane County Jail.
