TEMPE, AZ – Warrior Tennis was rewarded for its hard work in the classroom with 18 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete nods and both teams earned All-Academic Team honors for the 2024-25 school year.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the current academic year. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above.
“It is so awesome to have a group of high academic achievers,” coach Kai Fong said. “They tell me they are always doing their assignments and studying. It is nice to see that their grades support their claims.”
LC State Women’s Tennis finished the school year with a 3.48 team GPA, and on the men’s side the team earned a GPA of 3.62.
Seniors Heidi Moyo, Paige Noble-Lucas, Anne Mathema and Beatriz Lambru led a group of 10 Warrior women to win the award. They were joined by teammates Naiara Montero, Sonam Chuki Dorji, Ana Govea, Carisa Liebenberg, Gwyn Heim and Rayana Shah.
The Warrior men were led by seniors Austin Gomez and Austin Swing who repeated as award winners. Teammates Giacomo Moreira, Emmett Heiss, Pablo Herrera, Rafael Bonnet de Larbogne, Gautam Balakrishnan and Nell Rollin also earned the honor.
