CLEARWATER COUNTY, ID – A Lewiston woman was airlifted to a regional hospital following an ATV crash Wednesday afternoon in a remote area of Clearwater County.

According to the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 2:18 p.m. on July 23 to a report of an ATV accident on Forest Service Road 250. The crash involved 61-year-old Joanne Silva of Lewiston, who reportedly sustained possible neck injuries.

Witnesses told deputies that Silva was traveling about 25 mph when she swerved to avoid hitting an animal, causing the ATV to crash.

Weippe Ambulance and LifeFlight responded to the scene. Silva was flown to Kootenai Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.

The incident remains under investigation.
