MERIDIAN, ID — A Meridian man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after police uncovered a large-scale drug operation involving substances packaged to appeal to children, authorities announced this week.

In 2023, the Meridian Police Department seized more than 900 grams of cocaine, 77 pounds of psychedelic mushrooms, and over 6,600 THC edibles. Many of the THC products were packaged to resemble candy and cereal, which officials say was intended to target minors.

Following the investigation, Kale Kline was convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison for cocaine trafficking.

Meridian Police Chief Basterrechea emphasized the risk these types of products pose to children, stating, “This industry is targeting our children. Parents — start the conversation early.”

The Meridian Anti-Drug Coalition continues to offer resources and support for those struggling with substance abuse. Community members seeking help are encouraged to reach out for assistance.
