Lewiston Wastewater Project to Begin July 28 Near 16th Avenue and 16th Street

LEWISTON, ID – The City of Lewiston Public Works Department will begin a wastewater rehabilitation project near the intersection of 16th Avenue and 16th Street on Monday, July 28, 2025.

The project will focus on rehabilitating an existing sanitary sewer main and is expected to last approximately three weeks, depending on weather and site conditions.

What Residents Can Expect:

  • Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

  • Lane Reductions: Traffic lanes on 16th Avenue from 13th Street to 17th Street will be narrowed during construction.

  • Street Access: Some access points to 16th Avenue within the construction zone will be temporarily closed.

  • Traffic Impacts: 16th Avenue will remain open, but slower traffic is expected, especially during peak hours.

  • Local Access Maintained: All properties within the project area will still be accessible to local traffic.

  • Large Vehicles: Oversized and heavy truck traffic is encouraged to use alternate routes due to reduced lane widths.

The City notes that the construction schedule is subject to change based on unforeseen conditions. Officials thank the community for its patience and cooperation during the improvement of this critical infrastructure.
