Mariners Legend Ichiro Suzuki set for Induction Into Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday

COOPERSTOWN, NY – Ichiro Suzuki, who began his U.S. professional career with the Seattle Mariners in 2001 and went on to become one of the franchise’s all-time greats, will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday.

Ichiro is part of the 2025 Hall of Fame class alongside CC Sabathia, Dick Allen, Dave Parker and Billy Wagner. The induction ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Cooperstown’s Clark Sports Center and will be broadcast live on MLB Network and streamed online.

Ichiro played 14 of his 19 Major League seasons with Seattle, establishing himself as a cornerstone of the Mariners organization. Before coming to MLB, he spent nine seasons in Japan’s Pacific League with the Orix BlueWave. In total, Ichiro accumulated 4,367 professional hits across his 28-year career in Nippon Professional Baseball and Major League Baseball — more than any player in the history of the sport.

His MLB debut in 2001 was one of the most remarkable in league history. That year, he became only the second player ever to win both Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player honors in the same season. He also earned the first of 10 Gold Glove Awards and was selected to the first of 10 All-Star Games — nine of them as a starter for the American League.

Ichiro led Major League Baseball in hits seven times, setting a single-season record with 262 hits in 2004. He reached the 200-hit mark 10 times in his career, making him the only player in MLB history to do so in 10 consecutive seasons.

The induction ceremony will also honor Dick Allen, who passed away in 2020, and Dave Parker, who died last month. Willa Allen, Dick Allen’s widow, and David Parker II, son of Dave Parker, will represent their families during the event. Hall of Famers in attendance gathered Saturday for a golf tournament before Sunday’s ceremony.
