RIGGINS, ID – A man was arrested Friday evening following a traffic stop during a Highway Safety patrol in the Riggins area, according to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office.
On July 25, 2025, at approximately 8:06 p.m., an Idaho County Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a dirt bike that reportedly had no license plate and failed to signal while turning onto Highway 95.
During the stop, the rider allegedly provided false identification. The individual was later identified as 46-year-old Joshua Sorensen. Authorities say Sorensen was arrested on multiple charges, including felony unlawful possession of a firearm, a misdemeanor warrant out of Valley County, misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
The sheriff’s office noted the arrest occurred during an Office of Highway Safety emphasis patrol. All charges are accusations, and Sorensen is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
