RIGGINS, ID – A routine traffic stop in Riggins led to a felony drug arrest after an Idaho County deputy discovered multiple illegal substances in a vehicle on Friday, July 25.
At approximately 5:22 p.m., the deputy was conducting an Office of Highway Safety emphasis patrol when he observed a vehicle speeding—traveling 45 miles per hour in a 25 mph zone. The deputy initiated a traffic stop, during which marijuana was reportedly seen in plain view inside the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.
The driver, identified as 48-year-old Joshua Thomas, was taken into custody. He faces charges of felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
