78-year-old Deary Log Truck Driver Involved in US-95 Crash That Injured Hayden Man

HAYDEN, ID – A Deary man was involved in a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning that left one person injured and temporarily blocked traffic on US Highway 95 in Hayden.

Idaho State Police say the crash occurred around 5:05 a.m. on July 29 at the intersection of US-95 and Hayden Avenue. A 2022 Peterbilt log truck, driven by a 78-year-old man from Deary, was traveling northbound when it allegedly failed to stop at a red light and struck a 2015 Ram 1500 pickup headed west on Hayden Avenue.

The pickup, driven by a 64-year-old Hayden resident, was forced onto the northbound right shoulder of the highway. The log truck came to rest on the left shoulder of the northbound left lane.

The pickup driver was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. The log truck driver was not injured.

The crash caused partial blockage of US-95 for approximately two and a half hours as responders worked to investigate and clear the scene. Idaho State Police are continuing their investigation.
