Victim Found Outside Tonasket; Murder and Accessory Charges Filed
TONASKET, WA — Authorities in Okanogan County are investigating the death of a Tonasket man who was found dead along a rural roadway last week. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.
On the morning of July 24, 2025, deputies responded to a 911 call reporting an unresponsive man lying face down near North Pine Creek Road, about a mile outside Tonasket, a small town in north central Washington. Responding officers found the man, later identified as Joseph Dagnon, deceased at the scene.
The Washington State Crime Lab was called in, and investigators secured Dagnon’s residence as a secondary crime scene. Search warrants were obtained as deputies worked to gather evidence and identify possible suspects.
Later that day, law enforcement located two individuals believed to be connected to the incident at a residence off Highway 97 near Oroville. One suspect was taken into custody at the scene, while the second fled on foot. He was later apprehended with the help of drone surveillance and coordinated containment efforts by law enforcement.
Pedro Lopez of Tonasket was booked into the Okanogan County Jail on probable cause for first-degree murder. Jorge Gurolla-Garcia, also of Tonasket, was booked on probable cause for being an accessory to murder.
The investigation remains active. Authorities have not released further details about the events leading to Dagnon’s death.
The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office extended condolences to the victim’s family and commended the deputies and partner agencies for their work in the case.
