CALDWELL, ID – A Caldwell man has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of possessing hundreds of files containing child sexual abuse material.

Jacob Taylor, 43, was convicted on three counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child by Possession of Sexually Exploitative Material. On July 28, 2025, Senior District Judge Michael Reardon sentenced Taylor to 15 years in prison, with eligibility for parole after four years. He is also required to register as a sex offender under Idaho law.

The investigation began in fall 2024 when the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit received a CyberTip indicating that an account linked to Taylor had uploaded 68 files of suspected child sexual abuse material. Investigators executed a search warrant at Taylor’s residence on February 5, 2025.

Forensic analysts from the Idaho Attorney General’s Office later discovered over 300 files organized into folders on Taylor’s electronic devices.

“Every arrest and conviction our team gets in these deeply disturbing cases helps make Idaho communities safer,” said Attorney General Raúl Labrador. “I’m proud of the continued work by our ICAC investigators, prosecutors, and local law enforcement partners across the state who help in our mission to protect Idaho families and hold these criminals accountable.”

The investigation was led by ICAC Investigator Lauren Lane and her K-9 partner, Badger. Agencies assisting the case included the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, Nampa Police Department, Idaho State Police, Boise Police Department, Canyon County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations. The case was prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General James Haws.
