Grangeville Man Arrested for Felony Drug Possession Following Welfare Check

 

GRANGEVILLE, ID – A welfare check in Grangeville led to the arrest of a local man on multiple felony charges Thursday afternoon.

At around 12:00 p.m. on July 31, 2025, Idaho County Dispatch received several calls reporting a man slumped over in a vehicle. An Idaho County Sheriff’s Deputy responded and located the individual in question. Upon making contact, the deputy suspected the man was under the influence.

A drug-detection K9 named Enzo was deployed and alerted on the vehicle. Following the alert, deputies arrested 53-year-old Steven Sickels for two counts of felony possession of a prescription drug without a prescription.

Authorities remind the public that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
