LEWISTON, ID – Road crews are working along U.S. Highway 95 near the Aht’Wy Plaza to install safety features and signage aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing collision risks at the interchange.
Construction includes repaving nearly 100 feet of roadway to address a soft spot near the east side of the interchange. The Idaho Transportation Department advises motorists to expect delays of up to 30 minutes, with at least one lane closed in each direction. Flaggers may be present, and work is scheduled on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for approximately two weeks.
As part of the project, yellow tubular delineators will be permanently installed along the centerline to separate opposing lanes and prevent dangerous southbound left turns across traffic. Additional improvements include green directional signage at key points and fresh pavement markings to guide travelers more clearly around the plaza.
Access changes are also in place: southbound drivers must use the Nez Perce Drive exit to reach the gas station or casino. The right-hand turn lane into the gas station is now restricted to northbound traffic only. Both directions may still use the interchange to enter the plaza.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and check current traffic conditions at 511.idaho.gov, via the 511 app, or by calling 5-1-1.
