LEWISTON, ID – The LC Valley Resilience Coalition (LCVRC) is set to host its 6th annual conference on Thursday at Lewis-Clark State College. The event, which is open to the public, centers on the theme “Community Collaboration: Working & Playing Together for Resilience.”
The conference aims to bring together community partners and individuals seeking to build resilience through self-care, networking, and educational opportunities. Attendees in education or mental health fields can earn continuing education credits.
Danielle Scott, a University of Idaho Extension Educator with expertise in S.T.E.A.M. education and trauma resilience, will serve as the keynote speaker. Her presentation will focus on building a sense of belonging through cultural understanding and connection.
“Everybody has culture,” said Scott. “It’s about finding what helps them feel engaged—whether that’s the land, the water, or a person. That connection can lead to better choices and stronger support systems.”
Scott emphasized that the tools discussed are not just for professionals. “Even a bus driver or a grocery store clerk who regularly interacts with others might be the one to notice someone struggling,” she explained. “Resilience can start with a simple human connection.”
The conference also includes a screening of the film “Playing for Keeps” at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Room 115 of the Sacajawea Building at LCSC. The film is a required component for attendees seeking college credit through LCSC.
