MINIDOKA COUNTY, ID – A chain-reaction crash involving three vehicles left multiple people injured Friday evening, August 1, on Interstate 84 west of Heyburn.
The crash occurred around 9:16 p.m. at mile marker 204 in an eastbound construction zone where traffic had come to a stop. According to Idaho State Police, a 2019 Nissan Altima failed to stop and collided with a 2025 Honda Pilot, which was then pushed into a 2019 Audi Q8.
The Nissan was carrying a 32-year-old male driver from Burley, an adult female passenger, and three juveniles. Both adults were taken to a nearby hospital by ground ambulance, while two of the juveniles were flown by air ambulance due to the severity of their injuries.
In the Honda, a 46-year-old male driver and a 47-year-old female passenger, both from Ogden, Utah, were transported by ground ambulance for medical treatment.
The Audi was occupied by a 42-year-old man from North Bend, Washington, and a 43-year-old woman from Enumclaw, Washington. Neither occupant required hospitalization.
Traffic on I-84 was blocked for approximately three hours as emergency responders worked to treat the injured and clear the wreckage. Idaho State Police were assisted by the Minidoka County Sheriff’s Office, West End Fire and Rescue, Cassic Care, Life Flight Network, and Emergency Response 1.
The incident remains under investigation.
