Clearwater County Flood Maps Are Changing: Open House August 21

OROFINO, ID – Clearwater County residents are encouraged to attend a flood map open house on Wednesday, August 21, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Fiesta En Jalisco Banquet Room, 203 Johnson Avenue. A brief FEMA presentation will begin around 6 p.m.

FEMA is updating the county’s Flood Insurance Rate Maps using new data and technology to more accurately reflect flood risk. The updates may affect flood insurance requirements, property classifications, and development decisions.

At the open house, attendees can speak with FEMA and local officials, review the updated maps, and learn how changes may impact their properties. Residents in high-risk zones may be required to carry flood insurance for federally backed loans.
