Jury Convicts Spokane Man in Child Abuse Case; Sentenced to 23 Years to Life

SPOKANE, WA – A Spokane man was sentenced to 23 years to life in prison after being convicted of multiple felony charges related to the long-term abuse of a minor.

According to the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office, 49-year-old Caleb R. McKee was sentenced in Spokane Superior Court on July 31, 2025. The conviction followed a nearly three-week trial in May, where a jury found McKee guilty on all eight charges, including multiple counts of child rape and molestation, as well as charges of witness tampering and bribery.

The case began in 2019 when the victim, then a teenager, disclosed the abuse to a school counselor. The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation, which led to formal charges by the prosecutor’s office. The offenses were said to have occurred over a 10-year period starting in 2008.

The court found that McKee had engaged in a sustained pattern of abuse. Jurors also determined that aggravating factors warranted special verdicts on six of the charges.

Superior Court Judge Tony Hazel imposed an indeterminate sentence of 23 years to life, meaning McKee will serve a minimum of 23 years before becoming eligible for parole. The final length of incarceration will depend on future parole board decisions.

The Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office acknowledged the difficult nature of such trials and extended thanks to the Sheriff’s Office, lead investigator Sgt. Brandon Armstrong, Deputy Prosecutor Stephanie Richards, victim advocates, and all others involved in the case.
