Between June and October 2024, Edwin Reyes-Parra distributed more than four pounds of methamphetamine along with smaller amounts of fentanyl and fluorofentanyl in the community. In December 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant at his residence, seizing 75.5 grams of fentanyl, a firearm, and $2,000 in cash. Officials said Reyes-Parra attempted to flush drugs down the toilet before officers entered.

Reyes-Parra, who was in the United States without legal status, is expected to be deported to Mexico after serving his sentence.

The investigation involved the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Nampa Police Department Special Investigations Unit, the Boise Police Department, the High Desert Drug Task Force, and the Oregon State Police. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David Morse and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Kane Venecia, with funding from the Oregon-Idaho High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program.

Authorities noted that the case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a federal initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through coordinated law enforcement and community partnerships.
