Last summer the swimming hole was closed by the U.S. Forest Service because the small dam that backs up the water each summer needed to be fixed.  The dam was built in the 1930’s.

Local photojournalist Brett Hogaboam reports that the dam was repaired on Tuesday.  Rangers the Youth Conservation Corps and volunteers from the Boy Scouts Camp Grizzly fixed the dam.  It took a couple of days for the swimming hole to fill up.  Walking on top of the dam is prohibited.
