SPIRIT LAKE, ID – Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred Sunday afternoon on State Highway 41 near milepost 18, south of Spirit Lake.
The crash happened at approximately 2:45 p.m. when a silver Ford F250, driven by a 21-year-old man from Priest River, Idaho, was traveling northbound and crossed into the southbound lane. The truck collided with a black Ford F350 towing a trailer, driven by a 62-year-old man from Palm Harbor, Florida.
The driver of the silver Ford F250 was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. The driver of the black Ford F350, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to the hospital by ground ambulance.
Police say evidence at the scene indicated alcohol may have been a factor.
Highway 41 was blocked for about two and a half hours. Assisting agencies included Spirit Lake Police Department, Spirit Lake Fire, and Northern Lakes Fire District.
The incident remains under investigation by Idaho State Police.
