LEWISTON, ID – The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for portions of eastern Washington and north Idaho, in effect from noon Monday to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

High temperatures between 92 and 103 degrees are expected, with conditions described as above normal but short of records.

The advisory covers a wide area including Lewiston, Clarkston, Pullman, Moscow, Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, Sandpoint, Colville, Bonners Ferry, Cheney, Kellogg, Newport, Pomeroy, and many surrounding communities.

Officials warn that hot temperatures will increase the risk of heat-related illness, particularly for those without effective cooling or adequate hydration.

Temperatures are expected to drop Wednesday, but the change will bring elevated to locally critical fire weather conditions due to gusty winds and low relative humidity.

The National Weather Service advises residents to drink plenty of fluids, remain in air-conditioned spaces, avoid direct sun exposure, and check on relatives and neighbors.
