Surplus Washington Multi-Season Elk and Deer Tags Available August 19 and 21

OLYMPIA, WA – The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has announced upcoming sales dates for surplus multi-season hunting tags available to hunters who purchased a 2025 multi-season application.

A total of 160 multi-season elk tags will be available beginning at 10 a.m. on August 19. These tags, sold on a first-come, first-served basis, will only be available in person at WDFW offices and through authorized license dealers.

Two days later, at 10 a.m. on August 21, 2,693 multi-season deer tags will be released. These can be purchased online, over the phone at 360-902-2464, in person at WDFW offices, or through authorized license dealers.

WDFW licensing division manager Peter Vernie said the agency split the sales into separate days this year to reduce strain on sales systems and allow more hunters an opportunity to secure one of the highly sought-after elk tags.

There is no purchase deadline, but officials note that elk tags typically sell out quickly. Deer tags remain available until sold out or until most of the state’s deer seasons have closed for the year.

Hunters who already hold a 2025 general season transport tag must surrender it within five days of buying a multi-season tag. Prices for the 2025 season are $250.97 for elk and $191.77 for deer, with the same rate for residents and non-residents. The tags allow hunting with modern firearm, muzzleloader, or archery equipment, depending on season regulations.
