BOISE, ID – Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador has announced the launch of Operation Robocall Roundup, a nationwide crackdown aimed at stopping illegal robocalls from reaching consumers. The effort is part of the Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force, a bipartisan coalition of 51 attorneys general working to hold voice service providers accountable for enabling scam calls.
As part of the operation, warning letters were sent to 37 voice providers accused of violating Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules, including failing to register in the FCC’s Robocall Mitigation Database or file plans to curb illegal calls. These companies allegedly allow robocall traffic on their networks, passing it along to other providers until it reaches consumers.
“Idahoans are sick of scammers targeting their families through illegal robocalls,” Labrador said. “We’re putting these telecommunications providers on notice that they must follow federal rules immediately.”
In addition to the primary letters, the task force notified 99 downstream providers that they are working with companies flagged for noncompliance. The FCC has already taken action against several of these providers, removing seven from its Robocall Mitigation Database, which prevents other carriers from routing calls on their behalf.
The targeted companies include a mix of U.S. and international entities such as Advantage Investors LLC, DigitalOcean LLC, Infinity SIP LLC, Mexico IP Phones LLC, and Whisl Telecom.
Formed in 2022, the Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force investigates and pursues enforcement against businesses responsible for large volumes of illegal robocalls in the U.S. Earlier this year, Labrador’s office warned nine providers they could be violating state and federal law by routing unlawful call traffic.
The Attorney General’s Office encourages residents to remain vigilant and report suspected robocalls to help enforcement agencies disrupt illegal operations.
