Clarkston man Airlifted After Box Truck Rollover Crash North of Colfax

COLFAX, WA – A 75-year-old Clarkston man was injured early Wednesday morning when his truck rolled after swerving to avoid a deer on State Route 195, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:46 a.m., about six miles south of Rosalia near milepost 58. The driver, identified as Eugene Long, was traveling northbound when a deer ran into the roadway. Long swerved to the right to avoid the animal, went through a guardrail, and the vehicle rolled down an embankment before coming to rest.

Long was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was injured in the rollover. He was transported by Life Flight to a Spokane hospital. No drugs or alcohol were involved, and no other vehicles, pedestrians, or injuries were reported.

The 2016 International truck was totaled in the accident. No charges were filed, and the Washington State Patrol cited “wheels off roadway” as the cause of the crash.
