COEUR D’ALENE, ID – The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is assessing how an ongoing operator strike in eastern Washington could affect major transportation projects in North Idaho.
According to ITD, projects requiring operator work—including the State Highway 53 Pleasant View Interchange, the Interstate 90/State Highway 41 Interchange, the I-90 expansion project, and the I-90 Coeur d’Alene River Bridges—are among those most at risk of delays if the work stoppage continues.
The department stated it is too early to determine the full scope or duration of any disruptions. Project teams are working closely with contractors to evaluate schedules and identify possible ways to mitigate delays.
ITD emphasized that it is not involved in the labor negotiations and cannot comment on the strike itself. Inquiries regarding the labor dispute are being directed to union representatives.
