MERIDIAN, ID – The Idaho State Police (ISP) has announced the promotion of Jens Pattis to the rank of Major, where he will lead the agency’s Western Command. His new responsibilities include overseeing Investigations, Executive Protection and Capitol Security, District 3 Patrol, Forensic Services, and the Regional Communications Centers. He will also serve on the Idaho Criminal Justice Commission’s Human Trafficking Subcommittee.
Major Pattis brings more than 20 years of law enforcement experience and a history of leadership within ISP. Before joining the agency in 2004, he served six years in the U.S. Army as an M1A1 Armor Crewman. His ISP career began in District 3 Patrol, followed by assignments in the Executive Protection Unit and Motors Unit. Over the years, he advanced to Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, and Captain of the Regional Communication Center.
A graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and the FBI National Academy, Pattis has held key leadership roles, including supervising the Motors Unit and overseeing patrol operations in District 3.
Colonel Bill Gardiner, Director of ISP, praised Pattis’s dedication, stating, “His proven leadership and dedication to our mission make him the right choice to guide our Western Command. I’m confident his vision and experience will continue moving the Idaho State Police forward in service to the people of Idaho”.
