CLARKSTON, WA – Firefighters from Asotin County Fire District #1 and the City of Lewiston responded to a structure fire in the 2600 block of 13th Street Friday afternoon.

A passerby reported smoke coming from an older manufactured home around 12:30 p.m. Fire crews arrived to find the house filled with smoke and quickly entered to attack the fire. The occupants were not home at the time.

The fire began in the kitchen area near the stove. While the exact cause has not been determined, the damage was described as extensive in the kitchen.

Fire District Chief Noel Hardin said he is thankful for the long-standing partnership with the Lewiston Fire Department. He emphasized the importance of quick response times, particularly during hot weather, and noted that being able to work across the river is vital for the community.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters remained on scene for about an hour.
