MERIDIAN, ID – Idaho State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that resulted in one fatality on Friday evening in Boise County.
The crash occurred at 7:03 p.m. on August 15 at milepost 49.5 on State Highway 21.
According to ISP, a 19-year-old woman from Homedale was driving southbound in a 1997 Saturn SL1 with a 22-year-old female passenger and a juvenile passenger, both from Marsing. A 59-year-old man from Kuna, with a 64-year-old female passenger, was driving a northbound 2014 Ram 3500 pickup.
Investigators said the Saturn went off the road, came back onto the highway, and crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, colliding with the Ram.
The driver of the Saturn was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital. The juvenile was transported by ground ambulance. Both adult occupants of the Saturn were not wearing seatbelts, while the juvenile was restrained in a child safety seat.
The 22-year-old passenger of the Saturn died at the scene. The occupants of the Ram, who were wearing seatbelts, were not transported.
All lanes of travel were blocked for three hours and 43 minutes before southbound lanes reopened. Northbound lanes remained blocked for an additional hour and four minutes.
The crash remains under investigation by Idaho State Police.
