DNA Evidence Links Suspect to Triple Homicide in Chelan County

WENATCHEE, WA – The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office has released updated details in the investigation of three homicides, confirming DNA evidence ties suspect Travis Decker to the crime scene.

On June 2, 2025, the bodies of Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia Decker were discovered near a campground in Chelan County. Each victim was found with plastic bags over their heads. Two of the victims had two bags each, while the third had three. Cable ties were also recovered at the scene. Autopsies determined the victims died of suffocation, and the deaths were ruled homicides.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the Washington State Crime Lab reported on August 6 that DNA profiles matching Travis Decker were located on the plastic bags covering each victim’s head. The lab also confirmed DNA from the three victims was present on the bags. One additional DNA profile was obtained from cable ties at the scene, which also matched Travis Decker. No other DNA profiles were detected.

“The completion of this DNA analysis provides additional evidence that indicates Travis Decker is the only suspect involved in committing these homicides,” officials stated.

Decker’s whereabouts remain unknown, and authorities have not determined whether he is alive or deceased. The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office continues to coordinate with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in the search.

The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to Decker’s arrest. Authorities warn the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is urged to contact the U.S. Marshals Service at 1-800-336-0102 or submit tips online at www.usmarshals.gov/tips.
