AHSAHKA, ID – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, has announced seasonal changes to the operating hours of the Dworshak Dam and Reservoir Visitor Center as summer recreation winds down.
The visitor center is now open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will remain closed on federal holidays. While school tours are still being scheduled, public tours will not be offered at this time.
Lead Park Ranger Chris Miller encouraged boaters and recreationists to take this time to inspect their life jackets for rips, broken buckles, and proper fit before storing equipment for the off-season. He also asked visitors to return any loaner life jackets to designated stations or the visitor center and noted that donations of outgrown or unused jackets are welcome.
In addition to visitor information, the Dworshak Dam Visitor Center offers the America the Beautiful Lifetime Senior Pass, available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents age 62 and older for $80. The pass provides free day-use access and a 50 percent discount on camping at all federal recreation areas. Other passes, including annual, handicapped, and veteran options, are also available for purchase with cash or check during business hours.
Camping reservations at Dent Acres can be made up to six months in advance, while the Dent Group Camping area may be reserved up to one year in advance. Reservations can be secured by calling 877-444-6777 or visiting www.recreation.gov .
