CLARKSTON, WA – Two people were arrested in Clarkston following a long-term narcotics investigation that authorities say uncovered methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Court documents identify one of the suspects as 40-year-old Monica J. Shaw. Investigators had been monitoring Shaw for more than a year, linking her to the distribution of methamphetamine and fentanyl in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley. Detectives used surveillance, confidential informants, and license plate camera systems to track repeated trips between the valley and Yakima, where Shaw was believed to be obtaining drugs for resale.
On July 24, 2025, law enforcement stopped a Ford F-150 in Clarkston after surveillance showed it returning from Yakima. The truck’s occupants were identified as Shaw and 37-year-old Frank Sanchez. Authorities found methamphetamine and fentanyl in the vehicle.
Shaw allegedly admitted to possessing and distributing the drugs, claiming she sold small quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl to fund her habit. Both Shaw and Sanchez reportedly cooperated with investigators and were initially released while the case was under review.
The seized narcotics were later tested, confirming the pair was allegedly in possession of 54.01 grams of methamphetamine and 1.34 grams of fentanyl. On Tuesday, Shaw and Sanchez were arrested after being seen leaving a residence identified by detectives as connected to drug activity.
Both suspects were booked into the Asotin County Jail on charges of possession with intent to deliver.
