LEWISTON, ID – Local Democrats are promoting a public forum they say was organized for members of Idaho’s congressional delegation, but at least two of the three lawmakers listed have confirmed they will not attend.
The North-Central Idaho Democratic Coalition recently invited U.S. Sens. Mike Crapo and James Risch, along with Rep. Russ Fulcher, to participate in the forum. The event is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Williams Conference Center at Lewis-Clark State College.
In a social media post, Nez Perce County Democrats described the upcoming gathering as a “Forum with Our Members of Congress.”
Representatives for Risch and Fulcher said the lawmakers formally declined the invitations and say they will not attend. At the time of this writing, Crapo’s office had not responded to Dailyfly News inquiries about the event.
Organizers said the two-hour forum will also feature speakers from nonpartisan, nonprofit organizations, followed by comments from constituents on how federal decisions are affecting them.
