Motorcyclist Dies After Collision with Cattle Truck in Southern Idaho

ONEIDA COUNTY, ID – A Missouri man was killed early Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 84, north of Snowville, Utah.

According to Idaho State Police, the crash occurred at 5:20 a.m. on August 21 at milepost 263. A 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by a 61-year-old man from St. Louis, Missouri, was traveling eastbound when it was struck from behind by a 2024 Freightliner tractor hauling cattle. The semi was driven by a 48-year-old man from Oakley.

The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The semi driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not reported injured.

The collision blocked all eastbound lanes of I-84 for about eight hours while emergency crews responded and cleared the scene.

Idaho State Police were assisted by Snowville Ambulance, Malta Fire Department, the Oneida County Coroner’s Office, Cassia County Sheriff’s Office and the Idaho Transportation Department.

The crash remains under investigation.
