LEWISTON, ID – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, announced that six recreation areas along the lower Snake River will reopen for the fall recreation season beginning in late August and continuing into September.
The areas were previously closed earlier this year due to staffing constraints that limited available resources. With those challenges now eased, officials said the phased reopenings will allow for more opportunities for camping, fishing, and hunting across the region.
The following recreation areas are scheduled to reopen:

Little Goose Lock and Dam

Lambi Creek Recreation Area – Sept. 19

Willow Landing Recreation Area – Aug. 29

Illia Dunes Habitat Management Unit – Sept. 19

Lower Granite Lock and Dam

Blyton Landing – Aug. 29

Lewiston Levee Parkway confluence parking and restrooms (near D Street and the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center) – Sept. 5

Lower Monumental Lock and Dam

Riparia Recreation Area – Sept. 19

“These phased re-openings reflect our commitment to safely managing public lands while supporting recreation opportunities for communities across the region,” said Lt. Col. Katie Werback, Commander of the Walla Walla District.
Additional adjustments are also planned. Levey Park and Fishhook Park are expected to reopen in 2026, while Ice Harbor Lock and Dam recreation areas will close for the season on Sept. 2. Charbonneau Park will remain open until noon on Sept. 30 to extend recreation opportunities into early fall.
