Moscow Firefighters Successfully Prevent Fire From Spreading to Neighboring Homes

MOSCOW, ID – At approximately 2:30 AM on August 24, the Moscow Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 1700 block of Appaloosa Road. The first engine arrived on scene in under seven minutes.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and visible flames originating from the garage area and upper floors of the residence, with fire actively venting through the roof. Crews initiated an aggressive exterior attack using large-diameter hose lines to contain the fire.

Firefighters successfully prevented the fire from spreading to neighboring homes, though one adjacent residence did sustain exterior damage. Due to structural instability, the fire-damaged building was deemed unsafe to enter. Crews remained in a defensive fire attack to ensure the safety of all personnel on scene.

At the time of the fire, two adults and three children were inside the home. All occupants were able to evacuate safely, and no injuries were reported.

The residence suffered extensive damage and is considered a total loss. The American Red Cross is currently assisting the displaced family.

The cause and origin of the fire remain undetermined and are under active investigation.

The Moscow Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Pullman Fire Department and the Moscow Police Department.
