Arrest Made After Alleged Burglary, Firing of Gun at Asotin County Residence

ASOTIN COUNTY, WA – Deputies with the Asotin County Sheriff’s Office arrested 44-year-old Bryan Joseph Ambroson early Saturday morning following a reported burglary at a residence on Cloverland Road.

According to court documents, the homeowner told dispatchers that shortly before midnight on Friday night that he had woken up to find a man inside his house. The intruder reportedly took possession of multiple firearms, prompting the homeowner to flee in his vehicle and call 911.

Deputies responded and identified the suspect as Ambroson. Law enforcement established a perimeter around the home after seeing Ambroson inside with firearms. Investigators later determined that Ambroson had taken a .30/30 Ruger rifle, a .22 caliber Ruger handgun, and a .243 caliber Remington rifle.

During the investigation, deputies found that a shot had been fired inside the bathroom of the residence. A bullet hole and burn marks were observed on the ceiling. Authorities said Ambroson admitted to grabbing firearms from the home and attempted to load them. He also told deputies he believed people were chasing him, and he displayed signs of paranoia and hallucinations that investigators pointed out could be related to drug use.

Ambroson was taken into custody without further incident. He faces charges of burglary in the first degree, three counts of theft of a firearm, aiming or discharging a firearm, and malicious mischief in the third degree.

He was booked into the Asotin County Jail.
