Lewiston Gas Station Employee Accused of Offering Money for Girl’s Underwear

LEWISTON, ID – A Clarkston man has been charged with felony injury to a child following an incident at a gas station in North Lewiston in which he allegedly offered money to a juvenile in exchange for her underwear.

According to court records, 53-year-old Justin Lee White was working as a cashier at the the business on West 22nd Street in Lewiston on Friday evening when he allegedly propositioned a minor girl. The child was in the store attempting to sell bracelets to raise money, which she had also reportedly done in the past.  The girl reported that White offered her $50 and instructed her to go into the store’s bathroom to remove her underwear and leave them in a box.

Police documents state that surveillance footage corroborated the girl’s account, showing White waiting until other customers left before approaching her. Investigators wrote that the child became fearful, cried, and expressed being afraid to walk near the store afterward. Officers concluded White’s alleged request conveyed a clear sexual interest and caused the victim emotional distress, according to the court documents in the case.

White denied asking for the underwear but admitted knowing the girl and claimed he had purchased rocks that she was selling earlier that day.

White was arrested and charged with injury to a child, a felony.  He was booked into the Nez Perce County Jail.  He appeared in court on Monday afternoon, bond was set at $75,000.  A preliminary hearing has been set for September 3.
