PULLMAN, WA — Washington State University Athletics is rolling out new experiences for Cougar football fans as the 2025 season kicks off this weekend with the Battle of the Palouse against the University of Idaho.
WSU is adding new attractions and events aimed at enhancing game weekends in Pullman. A major addition is Camping with the Cougs, which allows fans to purchase camping spots on Mooberry Track and Grimes Field near the Lighty Student Services Building. The season will also see the launch of First Down Friday street fairs, held in partnership with the Downtown Pullman Association, the Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Pullman. The fairs will feature live music, local vendors, a beer garden, and family-friendly activities.
Friday’s events will also include a movie night at Gesa Field, as well as a Battle of the Palouse Cornhole Tournament, with the winning team receiving tickets to Saturday’s game. The Cougar Collective will host Friday Happy Hour Socials, offering fans the chance to meet WSU coaches and student athletes while bidding on auction items.
Game day itself will bring changes to tailgating. WSU Athletics is introducing Kickoff at the CUB, beginning three hours before kickoff and featuring refreshments and an appearance by the Cougar Marching Band. Rogers Field will continue to host Cougville, while Hollingbery Fieldhouse is now reserved for corporate partner events.
Fans can also take part in the Cougar Prowl, a rally that starts at the Taylor Sports Complex and leads the team through the RV1 parking lot and past the Cougar Pride Statue before entering Gesa Field.
This season also introduces six themed weekends. Highlights include:
- Sept. 6 – Homecoming/WAZZU Game: Featuring a concert by country artist Wyatt Flores.
- Sept. 20 – Apple Cup/Stripe the Stadium
