Clarkston Man Arrested in Lewiston for Allegedly Driving Stolen Vehicle

LEWISTON, ID – A Clarkston man was arrested after Lewiston Police say he was found driving a stolen vehicle early Wednesday morning.

According to an affidavit filed in Nez Perce County Court, officers initiated a traffic stop around 2:05 a.m. near the Stinker Station on 22nd Street North. Police say the driver, identified as Scott L. Snodderly, 61, of Clarkston, failed to come to a complete stop before exiting the gas station.

When contacted by officers, Snodderly allegedly admitted he did not have a driver’s license and was unable to provide registration documents for the silver Toyota 4Runner he was driving. He reportedly told police, “My girlfriend and I just bought this.”  When police asked Snoderly who the vehicle was registered to, he allegedly replied that he would have to ask his girlfriend because he was in prison when it was purchased.

Dispatch confirmed the 4Runner had been reported stolen on August 24 by its registered owner.

Snodderly was arrested at the scene and transported to the Nez Perce County Jail. He faces charges of grand theft by receiving or possessing stolen property, a felony under Idaho law, as well as driving without privileges.

Investigators noted the vehicle was filled with personal belongings at the time of the arrest.

Snodderly’s initial court appearance was scheduled for Wednesday.
