ASOTIN, WA – The Asotin Police Department has made an arrest in the case of a hit-and-run collision that occurred late Thursday morning outside of a school in Asotin.

According to police, at about 11:13 a.m., a white Dodge pickup truck traveling eastbound on 1st Street left the roadway, struck the curb, crossed the sidewalk and grass, and collided with a bike rack in front of the school. The vehicle sustained significant damage to its passenger side before fleeing east on 1st Street and south on 2nd Street.

School staff immediately moved students to a safe location and contacted law enforcement. No students or staff members were injured. Staff were also able to record the vehicle’s license plate number, assisting in the investigation.

Police later located the vehicle abandoned at an Asotin residence. According to Chief Monte Renzelman, the driver had been picked up by another individual and fled the area.
