LAPWAI, ID – The United States Marshals Greater Idaho Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from the Nez Perce Tribal Police, arrested Eduardo Alejandro Martinez-Ramirez on Friday morning in Lapwai.

Authorities said Martinez-Ramirez, wanted in Umatilla County, Oregon, for three counts of unlawful use of a weapon, was located around 11 a.m. near West Birch Avenue and 5th Street. Law enforcement officials noted that Martinez-Ramirez has previously claimed affiliation with a criminal street gang and was believed to be armed.

When officers arrived, Martinez-Ramirez reportedly refused to exit the residence where he was hiding, prompting a large police presence in the area. After a standoff, he surrendered without further incident and was taken into custody.

Martinez-Ramirez was booked into the Nez Perce County Jail, where he awaits extradition to Oregon. Officials did not state that he is from Lapwai, only that the arrest took place there. The Nez Perce Tribal Police expressed appreciation for the collaboration with partner agencies, emphasizing their commitment to community safety.
