LEWISTON, ID – The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash on Highway 95 near milepost 315 on August 29 at approximately 3:29 p.m.

Officials say a southbound driver collided with a guardrail, causing the vehicle’s engine to be torn out. The vehicle went airborne about ten feet before landing and coming to a stop.

The driver was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Investigators identified lack of sleep and speed as contributing factors in the crash.

The sheriff’s office reminded the public to get adequate rest before driving, plan their travel time to avoid speeding, and follow Idaho law by slowing down and moving over when approaching emergency vehicles with lights on the roadside.

Authorities emphasized that these measures are critical for the safety of drivers and emergency personnel. The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Idaho State Police for their assistance.
