BOISE, ID – Idaho drivers are seeing some stability at the pump, according to the latest report from AAA. The state average for regular gasoline is $3.47 per gallon, about two cents less than a week ago, a penny cheaper than a month ago, and 11 cents lower than this time last year.
Nationally, gas prices are averaging $3.19 per gallon, holding steady compared to a week ago, though slightly higher than a month ago. Idaho remains the eighth most expensive state for fuel, while California continues to lead with an average of $4.61 per gallon.
“Thankfully, refineries have been able to keep up with surging demand as people traveled over the holiday weekend, and crude oil prices are still manageable,” said Matthew Conde, public affairs director for AAA Idaho. “Hopefully, we will see pump prices take a seasonal slide as more people stay closer to home throughout the fall”.
The West Texas Intermediate benchmark for crude oil is trading near $66 per barrel, three dollars more than last week but unchanged from a month ago. Conde noted that hurricane season has had a minimal effect on supplies so far, saying, “Fingers crossed that it remains a fairly quiet year”.
AAA recommends that motorists improve fuel economy by keeping tires properly inflated, bundling errands, and avoiding heavy stop-and-go traffic.
