ASOTIN, WA – The Asotin Police Department has announced a new partnership with BlueBridge Alliance to expand community outreach and provide resources to residents in need.

The BlueBridge program equips local officers with financial support to assist community members during emergencies, offering immediate relief such as food, fuel, clothing, shelter, transportation, or critical medication. The program is available not only to Asotin officers but also to Clarkston officers and Asotin County deputies through the department.

Chief Monte Renzelman said the initiative helps law enforcement fill gaps when traditional resources are not available. “BlueBridge allows the officers to bridge the gap when traditional resources are not available at the time of need,” he explained.

BlueBridge Alliance was inspired by a 2011 incident in San Diego where an officer bought food for a child in need shortly before being killed in an unrelated attack. Co-founded by CEO Brian Spracklen and former Kennewick Police Chief Ken Hohenberg, the nonprofit has since provided relief to thousands of individuals and families.

The Asotin program will be funded through local donations, including contributions from businesses, civic organizations, and residents. Supporters can give monetary or in-kind donations directly to the Asotin Police Department’s BlueBridge account.

According to BlueBridge Alliance, the effort seeks to achieve three goals: providing short-term assistance to those in crisis, improving community relationships with law enforcement, and boosting officer morale.
