Woman Arrested in Clarkston After Alleged High-Speed Chase

CLARKSTON, WA – A Clarkston woman is facing multiple charges following incidents in late August and early Thursday morning in which police say she fled from officers in a vehicle, and then attempted to flee again on foot.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Clarkston Police Department, 28-year-old Tayler Sagen McLam was identified as the driver of a Jeep that sped away from a trailer park on Fair Street during the early morning hours of August 24. An officer reported that McLam allegedly fled a traffic stop at approximately 60 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone, while crossing  over the Red Wolf Bridge. The officer also noted that McLam had also repeatedly crossed the center line. The pursuit was terminated near Highway 128 in accordance with department policy.

Police later determined that McLam initially gave a false name during a previous encounter.  A review of Department of Licensing records and social media confirmed her true identity. Investigators also discovered McLam had an active felony warrant out of Nez Perce County related to grand theft, possession of a controlled substance and a probation violation.

On September 4, officers again encountered McLam in the 1300 block of Bridge Street. According to court documents, when police contacted her, McLam attempted to flee on foot but was taken into custody after a brief pursuit.

At the Asotin County Jail, McLam allegedly admitted she fled the earlier traffic stop because of her outstanding warrant.

McLam was booked into the jail on charges of attempt to elude, reckless endangerment, and obstruction, along with her Idaho felony warrant.

She is expected to make her initial appearance in Asotin County Court on Thursday.
