KELLOGG, ID – Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Sunday morning on Interstate 90 in north Idaho.
The crash happened at approximately 10:25 a.m. on Sunday, at milepost 48.5 in Shoshone County, near Smelterville.
According to Idaho State Police, a 67-year-old man from Kingston, Idaho, was driving a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound with a 66-year-old female passenger, also from Kingston, when the back tire blew. The motorcycle lost control and crashed.
Both were wearing helmets, but investigators said the female passenger’s helmet came off during the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
The right lane of I-90 was blocked for about two hours. Authorities said next of kin has been notified, and the investigation remains ongoing.
