Woman Arrested for Battery on Deputies at Lewiston Roundup Grounds

LEWISTON, ID – A 22-year-old Kooskia woman was arrested early Saturday morning after deputies say she threw items at law enforcement officers and spat on one of them during a DUI investigation at the Lewiston Roundup Grounds.

According to court documents, deputies with the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Roundup Grounds at about 12:55 a.m. on September 6 to assist with a DUI case. The passenger in the vehicle, identified as Brentiayah D. Broncheau, was reportedly too intoxicated to drive and was offered a courtesy ride home. Deputies said she appeared unsteady on her feet, had slurred speech, and initially refused their assistance, fearing that if she got into the back seat of a patrol car, she would be taken to jail.

After repeated reassurances, Broncheau eventually agreed to accept the ride. However, deputies said when they got to the car, she then threw her handbag over the top of the vehicle. She then reportedly dropped her phone and, as one deputy went to pick it up for her, she allegedly kicked the deputy. Court records state she also allegedly threw her wallet at a deputy, striking him in the chest.  While being secured in the patrol car, she also allegedly spit in one deputy’s face and attempted to spit on another.

Broncheau was arrested and booked into jail on two felony counts of Battery Upon Certain Personnel.  She appeared in court on Monday.  Bond was set at $2,500.
