ASOTIN, WA – A 13-year-old who escaped from custody at the Asotin County Courthouse Monday afternoon was safely located by early evening.
The Asotin County Sheriff’s Office said the male teen was taken into custody by deputies in Clarkston with assistance from the Clarkston Police Department. He is now being held at the Juvenile Detention Center.
Authorities said Szakacs escaped from custody at about 2:30 p.m. Monday. Deputies reported seeing him in the area of Asotin City Park, but he fled on foot, crossing Asotin Creek and running through several private yards. Despite the use of a perimeter and a drone from Clarkston Police, he was not immediately located.
The teen reportedly has a prior history of stealing vehicles and eluding law enforcement, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
