Man Killed in 4-Vehicle Crash on I-90 in Post Falls

POST FALLS, ID – The Idaho State Police are investigating a four-vehicle fatality collision that occurred Monday, September 8, 2025, at about 4:03 p.m. on Interstate 90 near milepost 2 in Post Falls.

According to investigators, a gray 2013 Toyota Prius driven by a 58-year-old man from Livingston, Montana, was traveling eastbound when it failed to negotiate a right curve. The Prius left the roadway off the north shoulder, crossed the center median, and entered the westbound lanes.

The Prius struck the rear of a 2024 Volvo semi-truck occupied by a 38-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman, both from Spokane, Washington. Both vehicles came to rest on the interstate with significant damage.

During the crash, a white 2019 Ford F-350 driven by a 23-year-old Spokane man and a white 2019 Toyota Tundra driven by a 34-year-old Priest River man were also struck, sustaining minor damage.

The occupants of the Volvo semi, Ford F-350, and Toyota Tundra reported no injuries. The Prius driver succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin has been notified.

Westbound lanes of I-90 were closed for about three and a half hours. The roadway reopened at 7:44 p.m.

Responding agencies included the Post Falls Police Department, Coeur d’Alene Police Department, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Kootenai County Fire Rescue, Kootenai County Coroner’s Office, and the Idaho Transportation Department.

The crash remains under investigation.
